What would you want others to know about tube feeding and/or your diagnosis?
I have Down Syndrome and I was born with a heart defect. Since I was born, I did not have enough energy and strength to eat on my own. I tried very hard but eating for a baby is extremely exhausting and I just could not do it. In the hospitals the nurses placed an NG tube so I could get all the milk I needed so I could continue to grow and gain weight. After many months of living in hospitals and open heart surgery to fix my heart, I got a G-Tube so I could finally go home and be with my family.
What makes you happy?
My mommy & daddy, my brothers, my dog and cat, and of course my toys!
What does tube feeding mean to you? How has tube feeding improved your life?
Having my tube means I get the nutrients I need to be able to survive
Who is your #1 supporter? Who do you look up to?
My #1 supporter is my mommy. She works with me every day to try and help me eat. She tube feeds me every meal to make sure I continue to get big and strong.
